Everything the brothers Garza play is infected with pure bluesy groove [wnDHy6W  
and roots rock verve. The ten songs here are Garza-ized takes on Af(WV>'  
Christmas standards: "Jingle Bells," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," L=; -x9  
"Away in a Manger," "Feliz Navidad," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," }T_Te?<&  
"Carol of the Bells," and "Silent Night." The latter two are fine 4Y\wnwI  
instrumentals. "Carol of the Bells,'" especially, is a deeply satisfying 1fU,5+PH  
guitar and percussion workout that embraces not only hard rhumba gb|Q%LS9R  
drumming, but funk, Mexican folk music, and screaming blues-rock. i5}

Hopefully, their version of "Run Rudolph Run" will make Chuck Berry _HOIT  
proud, with its rumbling upright piano and bassline, and Henry's guitar 0#o/^Ah  
offering his best modern read of Berry's instrumental innovation on the *XOJnyC_H  
I-IV-V progression. But the real highlights here are the two originals !A3-0zN!  
that open the set. "I've Longed for Christmas" is a bona fide new I?#85l{>  
seasonal tune with its warmth, soulful wah-wah guitar, and laid-back T4/fdORS  
drum kit shuffling around a slippery groove. The brothers sing m0w;8uF2UV  
unfettered joyful harmonies about giving, peace, love, and joy ?and the WS8+7O'1\  
celebration of Christ's birth. "She'll Be My Everything for Christmas" BAj-akc f  
is inspired by Fats Domino's New Orleans brand of rhythm & blues with /'2O.d0}.
