Everything the brothers Garza play is infected with pure bluesy groove hYMIe]kJ  
and roots rock verve. The ten songs here are Garza-ized takes on ;<`F[V Zau  
Christmas standards: "Jingle Bells," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," I'2:>44>I6  
"Away in a Manger," "Feliz Navidad," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," =A={Dpv[>  
"Carol of the Bells," and "Silent Night." The latter two are fine C`+g:qT  
instrumentals. "Carol of the Bells,'" especially, is a deeply satisfying pA%XqG*=Y  
guitar and percussion workout that embraces not only hard rhumba <9 lZ%j;  
drumming, but funk, Mexican folk music, and screaming blues-rock. drP2%u  
Hopefully, their version of "Run Rudolph Run" will make Chuck Berry Yr5A,-s  
proud, with its rumbling upright piano and bassline, and Henry's guitar +]uW|owxo  
offering his best modern read of Berry's instrumental innovation on the LuY`mi  
I-IV-V progression. But the real highlights here are the two originals ?Y+xuY/t  
that open the set. "I've Longed for Christmas" is a bona fide new jK/2n}q&]  
seasonal tune with its warmth, soulful wah-wah guitar, and laid-back H1_XEcaM+*  
drum kit shuffling around a slippery groove. The brothers sing s|rlpd4y  
unfettered joyful harmonies about giving, peace, love, and joy ?and the (_
_=*ew  
celebration of Christ's birth. "She'll Be My Everything for Christmas" 4)BZ%1+  
is inspired by Fats Domino's New Orleans brand of rhythm & blues with  bhe~ekb  
loose strolls up and down the keyboard and his celebration of love D.Rk{0se8
