polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the -, bnj

jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of uw\@~ ,d  
intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an %u! =<yn'  
underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented xr'1CP  
as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of +vkmS  
bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The Y,s EM%  
Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to ?%5VaxWJ
 
its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to ,D{7=mDVm  
accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling X,Na4~JO(

The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that Ay(p~U;gN*  
truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his CM?:\$4  
laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost i}vJI}S.$  
and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his n#+EG3  
younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album F` ybe\  
and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to xFF!)k #  
Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour. v@zi?D K  
If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr BpIyw  
seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters 4]r_K2.cc  
Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.

be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of ~xd?y*gk;

The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs 6\8d6x>  
themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant (fpz",[  
lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier D;+/bll7  
than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so IQJ" B6U)  
but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any [NSslVr  
kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although .?{no}u.  
his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is f30J8n"

doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of ~A>fB2.pM  
icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything yz68g?"  
in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising. j4IVIj@$`

Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too |O(>{GH  
polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your P}4&J ^  
affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than v +4v  
your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair 2W+~{3[#  
comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit vzSb(  
his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit DvH-M3  
of fire and even some unpredictability would have been W_B=}lP@x  
welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple g@#he95 }
