q%Fc?d9 polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the
Ad@Odx=o*R jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of
y?1<7>L5~ intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an
=cN! h"C[ underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
_=\=oC as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
/e0cx:.w bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
\h&ui]V Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
:1O1I2 L0 its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
/V% ]lmxQ accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
Z;XiA<| mineral water.
AvNU\$B4aG |y*-)t The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
*i>?YT truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
$^1L|KgXp laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost

Q9K and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
0D*uZ,oBEw younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
e yLVu. and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
+uY)MExs2 Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.

DLXv}! seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters

' t5 I% F be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of

O> themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
{ta0dS;1 lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
j+>#.22+ than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
v GT#BS% but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
Du3nK" -g kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
/W6 r{Et his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
$YyN-C doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
3/w) mY-o icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything

<$\En[u0 affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
&!kr & g#] your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
=eXJZPR comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
*vss his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
mu(EmAoenQ of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
2eOde(K+ welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
