~|e?@3_G polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the
w] b3,b jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of
~1&%,$fZ intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an
:<ye:P1s underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
ig(a28% as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
J<h^V+x bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
6/` $Y!.ub Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
}J27Y ;Zp9 its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
{ -*+G] accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
(Zi(6 T\z mineral water.
8?ldD q_ eGY&M The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
X x_ v>Jn! truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his

e laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
!Z978Aub3& and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
>e y.7YG younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
_5 'OQ'P2 and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
g 4,>cqRkq Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
UR|UGldt_T If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
HvS KR1wL\ seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters
M{gtu'. Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.

w0 If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably

&WN#HI."] themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
lhsd 39NM lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
InDISl] than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
=Nn&$h l but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
PjriAlxD kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
. #zmX\a his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
f\O) +Vc doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
aBk~ / icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
9 p6QNDp in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.
~|+! xh Hn"xn79nc Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
__HPwOCG7 polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
c e`3 & affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
>[TB8 your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
("(:w YR% comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
%/KN-* his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit

{ of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
