/?.r!Cp polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the
JqVBT+: jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of
_H^^2#wc/ intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an
Hob Gl0<y underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
N[ +o[%A as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
|? ;"B:0 bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
ohQz%?r Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
YO.` l~ v its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
K%[}[.cW accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
1}n)J6m mineral water.
%T&&x2p^=? }2iKi(io* The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
IEIxjek truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
UZ 4 tq laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost

E:&A and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
| *]X\UE younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
zCj*:n and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
&;NNU T>Q Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
d!}jdt5% If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
xVHQ[I% seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters
eu}:Wg2 Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.
,z0~mN If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably
~L \( /[ be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of
Pq{YZMr heartbreak.
H649J)v+m ;i -D~Np| The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
^huBqEs themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
VuO) lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
HonAK than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
3 2iWYN but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any

( kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although

fhr his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is

+O~ icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
# RLch in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.
Q8DQ .C )'K!)?&d Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too

Y bn=Gy affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
6gg# Z your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
<750-d! comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
<@x+N%C his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
RBv= of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
mk[d7Yt{O welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
