Opening the album is "Could Have Been a Contender" - all IjRUr\l  
polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the [w@S/K[_|  
jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of wLqj<ot  
intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an vn$=be 8l4  
underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented z7`|N`$Z#s  
as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of ov,s]g83  
bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The #\Rxqh7  
Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to K2xHXziQ  
its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to +y nhN\S$/  
accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling

The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that l~

truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his a4~ B  
laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost _1G/qHf^S  
and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his @- |G_BZ  
younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album ]3Ia>i  
and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to U-1UWq  
Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour. q&v

If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr zqNzWX  
seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters i]k)wr(  
Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that. v(.mM9>  
If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably }O@

be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of 4uoZw3 O

The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs -%fj-Y7y  
themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant 95@u|#n  
lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier `Pj7:[."[  
than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so gF)-Ci  
but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any qF bj~ec  
kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although Fik;hB  
his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is RNB&!NC  
doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of e Fz$h2*B  
icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything 4lX_2QT]E  
in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising. v0)Y,hW

Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too vf.MSk?~ar  
polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your (jU_lsG  
affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than ]h`*w  
your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair AA,/AKikd  
comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit Het"x  
his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit iKPgiL~  
of fire and even some unpredictability would have been Ir>4-@  
welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple Xv!Gg6v6  
espresso kind of guy. u=qK_$d4
