|$vX<. S underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
{[+m pKq as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
v hp Npgz bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
Kla'lCZ Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
VHCK2}ps its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
~io szX accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
4 3mP]*=A mineral water.

9l' The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
`8AR_7i truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
hp#W 9@ NR laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
8n 'B6hi and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
:c8&N-` younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
E^vJ@O and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
\#Pf
j &* Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
)Xv ilC k1 If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
) L#i%)+ seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters
~y H?=:>U Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.
swM*k;$q{ If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably
q(`/Vo4g( be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of
^>jwh heartbreak.

C jN[`L%Qm The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
9aze>nxh. themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant

qyk^X lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
%p2Sh)@M than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
y+"X~7EX but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
)iY xt:(, kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
/H8g( his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
H."EUcE { doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
d-k%{eBV icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
{]:7bV#JP in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.
)}"wesNo". B" !l2 Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
a-=8xs' polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
^pQCNKLBY affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
y#U+c*LB your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
D;;!ODX$? comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
gBC@38|6) his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
,.OERw of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
(NF~Ck$#q welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
