5ie bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
%y_{?|+ Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
Kv9Z.DY its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to

<d accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling

*w%}HU The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
stQ_Ke truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
10_# Z~aU laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
R*/s#*gmL and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his

B]#LLv younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
R.!.7dO and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
EF6h>"']/ Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
]I_*+^?tI If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
m!5Edo-;< seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters
#a9O3C/MP Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.
B"8jEYT5 If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably
=f!clhO be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of

n heartbreak.
$<yhEvv >n^780 S| The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
K)U[xS;< themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
\W]gy_=D{ lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
0<O()NMv than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
.G#li(NWH but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
Uo71C 4ev kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although

wT`c his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
<z\ `Ma doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
#*:^\z_Jd icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
u~aRFQ: in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.
le]~Cy0 yOt#6Vw Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
*= ?|n polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
[orL.D] affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
'It8h$^j your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
r5Tdp)S comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
DL?nv H his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
t:5 -Ro of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
[ r8 ZAS welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
