Glasgow's Ally Kerr does a nice line in pop songs and "Off the oreSu;`$  
Radar" provides us with the opportunity to enjoy 12 more of cZw Q{9>

Opening the album is "Could Have Been a Contender" - all ^Dh2_vb I  
polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the i{`>!)U  
jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of 8^^al!0K~  
intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an 4yknX%[  
underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented H&GMq5)B  
as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of |BXq8Erh  
bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The 0{
j>u`  
Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to ZQyT$l~b  
its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to R ~cc]kp0  
accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling J|ILG

The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that ULoTPx@N  
truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his .z

laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost 2/;

and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his vj#gY2qZ  
younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album 4 Hu+ljdjB  
and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to ALKhZFuz

If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr o]]Q7 S=  
seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters *kDXx&7B$  
Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that. uZqo"  
If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably v.\&gn(  
be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of  ztTpMj

The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs u^{Q|o:=x  
themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant \>\w-ty[(  
lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier vbSz&+52;  
than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so e\P+R>i0  
but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any 's e 9|:  
kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although J+9D/VT  
his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is AD8~  
doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of HVC \(h,)i  
icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything OyH

Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too  6E  
polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your )d s(/P5b  
affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than Jcy`:C\Ay  
your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair \+5L.Q  
comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit MxCs0::

his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit yX8F^iv[  
of fire and even some unpredictability would have been FMR0?\jnT  
welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple E P<U:F
