p}q27<O*/ polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the
$ N`V %<W jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of
!5,>[^y3 intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an
|^fubQs;2 underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
zVN/|[KP4 as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
GL;@he P bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
y/=:F=H@w Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
6v8HR}iK its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
58xaVOhb accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
Ku;|Dz/=o mineral water.

=r The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
"Tw4'AY'P truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
EmrUzaGD laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
od~^''/b and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
( Z:(f~; younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
.*XELP=BT and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
EUBJnf:q Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
CTawXH M If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr

\8j 5b+ be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of

R"6 6cR}Mm9Hx3 The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
Bmx+QO themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
6Gt~tlt:L lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
zED#+-7 than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
e^v 5a i but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
n(X {|? kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
"FuOWI{in his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is

\k;T( doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
/| 7@rH([{ icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
d)@Hx8 in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.
EY3x o-H 'I$-h<W Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
SCwAAE9s] polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your

LDg" s0n# your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
.'`7JU#{ comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
5ggmS<= his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
b1+6I_u. of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
H~Z$ pk% welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
