_8'F I_E3 bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The
XHlx89v7 Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
+ $+'|w its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
Y(]&j`% accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
\ns#l@B mineral water.
'?~k`zK ?DC3BA\) The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
N|ut^X+|\ truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his

mfc laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
i%~4 >k and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his

A younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
O$% C(n( and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
t'EH_ U Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.
w^&TG3m1~ If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr
4{\h53j$ seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters
iM Xl}3 Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that.
nV0"q|0K; If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably
kE".v|@ be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of
u= K ?K heartbreak.

dL The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
U!-|.N, themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
swVq%]')" lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
%XqLyeOS than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
s.rS 06x but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
I$neE"wW kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
qu[x=LZ_ his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
9k^;]jE doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
K`@GN T& icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
.O'gD.|^N in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.

(a Nky%v+r Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
E$FXs ~a polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
BcT|TX+c t affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
1Ly?XN S your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
NdQXQa?, comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
H3.WAg[` his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
4\?I4|{pC of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
ujcNSX* welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
*4^!e/ espresso kind of guy.
