Opening the album is "Could Have Been a Contender" - all (*6m^  
polished pop perfection that brings back memories of the U@6jOZ  
jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of sno`=+|U]  
intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an D<U 9m3  
underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented dGW{l]N  
as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of eOm< !H  
bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The 7G5y)Qb  
Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to 4^DVW*OiI  
its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to ZfPd0 p  
accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling oW1"%i%  
mineral water. (j' {~FB

The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that {p`mfEE(  
truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his

laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost }* QO]_U?  
and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his t;8\fIW5  
younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album 8Q2]*%   
and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to 0K<x=-cCB
 
Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour. LY]nl3{E  
If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr n/QfdAg  
seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters q!6|lZB3  
Dropkick and there are certainly worse things to be than that. 2_;]  
If Bluesbunny had to pick a favourite track, it would probably HH)"]E5  
be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of d0(Cn}m"c

The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs ~U6" ?  
themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant ao#!7F  
lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier ?Z q_9T7  
than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so w*50ZS;N  
but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any QR<`pmB~y  
kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although 43zUN  
his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is o=pt_!i/  
doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of s%~L4Wmcq  
icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything RMoJz6^>  
in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising. q M%O

Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too kG/X"6pZ  
polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your ><;Q@u5~  
affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than kt^yj"C>  
your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair ^q ;Cx7T_p  
comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit FigR1/3o'6  
his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit EYL]TeS  
of fire and even some unpredictability would have been 0n3D~Xzd  
welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple XCDSmZ
