Everything the brothers Garza play is infected with pure bluesy groove _7u&.l<;  
and roots rock verve. The ten songs here are Garza-ized takes on v5 p`=Z@%  
Christmas standards: "Jingle Bells," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," ~#so4<A`3  
"Away in a Manger," "Feliz Navidad," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," Hsov0  
"Carol of the Bells," and "Silent Night." The latter two are fine AK'3N1l`  
instrumentals. "Carol of the Bells,'" especially, is a deeply satisfying kuLur)^
 
guitar and percussion workout that embraces not only hard rhumba dEkST[Y3  
drumming, but funk, Mexican folk music, and screaming blues-rock. U+ Yu_=o{  
Hopefully, their version of "Run Rudolph Run" will make Chuck Berry MUtM^uY  
proud, with its rumbling upright piano and bassline, and Henry's guitar ./DlHS;  
offering his best modern read of Berry's instrumental innovation on the 1PWi~1q{Q  
I-IV-V progression. But the real highlights here are the two originals MYxuQ|w  
that open the set. "I've Longed for Christmas" is a bona fide new *\iXU//^)  
seasonal tune with its warmth, soulful wah-wah guitar, and laid-back l.;^w  
drum kit shuffling around a slippery groove. The brothers sing 4u0?[v[Hu  
unfettered joyful harmonies about giving, peace, love, and joy ?and the 8In~qf  
celebration of Christ's birth. "She'll Be My Everything for Christmas" Xa "I  
is inspired by Fats Domino's New Orleans brand of rhythm & blues with EN}4-P/
