Everything the brothers Garza play is infected with pure bluesy groove ppR_y  
and roots rock verve. The ten songs here are Garza-ized takes on U>e@m?  
Christmas standards: "Jingle Bells," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," 3 V8SKBS  
"Away in a Manger," "Feliz Navidad," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," Uk S86`.  
"Carol of the Bells," and "Silent Night." The latter two are fine pA4/'7nCl  
instrumentals. "Carol of the Bells,'" especially, is a deeply satisfying >7vSN<w~m  
guitar and percussion workout that embraces not only hard rhumba -hQ=0h~\B.  
drumming, but funk, Mexican folk music, and screaming blues-rock. 7vNS@[8  
Hopefully, their version of "Run Rudolph Run" will make Chuck Berry T(a*d7  
proud, with its rumbling upright piano and bassline, and Henry's guitar O_-.@uo./(  
offering his best modern read of Berry's instrumental innovation on the OA%.>^yb@  
I-IV-V progression. But the real highlights here are the two originals ?TMo6SU  
that open the set. "I've Longed for Christmas" is a bona fide new t82Bp[t  
seasonal tune with its warmth, soulful wah-wah guitar, and laid-back IhM-a Y y5  
drum kit shuffling around a slippery groove. The brothers sing CS5 0wY  
unfettered joyful harmonies about giving, peace, love, and joy ?and the S&_ZQLiQ$  
celebration of Christ's birth. "She'll Be My Everything for Christmas" tK g%5;v  
is inspired by Fats Domino's New Orleans brand of rhythm & blues with xW/JItF  
loose strolls up and down the keyboard and his celebration of love 5c{=/}Y
