AdRK )L jaunty hits of the Housemartins and their catalogue of
vP,$S^7$ intelligent and catchy songs. "I Think I'm Bleeding" has an
/ & yc?Ui underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented

P as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
v+'*.Iv: bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The

"a 0O Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
m5cRHo<9Y its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
HaQox.v% accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
LmP p t3[ mineral water.
M} Mgz 'v5q/l The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that

Db= truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
{X-a6OQj laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
a&B@F]+ and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his

T** y?2 younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
=|H.r9-PK6 and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to

|Q Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.

seems to transform himself into Edinburgh master popsters

0R}hAK+| 4 be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of

B q tN= UkC'`NWF* The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
."`||@| themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
nI 8zT0o lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
u/FC\xJc than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
GK#D R/OM but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
ypx`!2Q$ kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
!(y(6u# his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
F1p|^hYDW doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
?\zyeWK0L icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
-?Cu-' in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.

kqGydGh*" comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
c $_} his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
<)o xs ]< of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
!ED,'d%J welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
