| Z2_W/ time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself

k}E_1_S( her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
SSla^,MHef taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
/ar0K9`c vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
cC/32SmY4 Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
J(!=Dno who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering

gT in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
d*04[5` first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
Yy]TU} PY drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
[_3& -z J V(` At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
m;rr 7{7X Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
'q~<ZO talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
jck(cc= R her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
-:'%YHxX Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with

WNp Polydor Records.

$ Kzh W-|C K&1 Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
g{ sp<w0 her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
[4YRyx&:++ Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
9ei'oZ days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
"+qZv( organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
D$ H&^,? N released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
HN/YuP03[ 2007 in the United States and Japan.

w Kx,X{$Pe At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
$RF.LVc Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
i,Z-UA|f=T performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
F g):>];<9 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
g[@0H= and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
A0;{$/ Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
"d~<{(:N^ 2008 the singer started her second tour through the

@')Uk: K%t&a RjS On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
MZA%ET,l,< album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
g26_#4 P Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
y/_= is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band

T includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
