Y6" DN8I[5O Since their inception, High Places have created a signature
4Zjd g` sound out of using bass-heavy yet crisp beats, lilting vocal
{\?f|mmq melodies and syncopated rhythmic lines performed on folk
gy1kb,MO percussion instruments, guitar duets turned into treated
)YC
H>Za samples, and percussive lines created from the manipulation of
r<]^.]3zj household objects. The songwriting is expansive and fluid, all

R||$Wi[$ &WCVdZK: High Places' self-titled debut was recorded by the band's Rob
b`wT*& Barber and Mary Pearson in their apartment in Brooklyn's Fort
2!f'l'} Greene neighborhood. They employed a wide variety of
bil>;&h instruments to make this album, ranging from the more

Jbima> bass, bells and Kalimba; to the inventive: plastic bags,
m:EYOe,w mixing bowls, wood blocks and other common household objects.
")boY/ P/w The album has a contemplative and organic lyrical tone
q89yW)XG emphasized by the themes of goodness manifested in nature,
7F~Jz*,B*W hardship and wonder as necessities to human existence and
