g Since their inception, High Places have created a signature
8:& !F`o sound out of using bass-heavy yet crisp beats, lilting vocal
t4UK~ {gh melodies and syncopated rhythmic lines performed on folk
WOj}+?/3 R percussion instruments, guitar duets turned into treated
Ct-eD-X{ samples, and percussive lines created from the manipulation of
cVx SO`jZw household objects. The songwriting is expansive and fluid, all
d;dT4vx$[M the while managing to be concise. High Places gravitate toward
ZS+m}.,whQ the organic over the electronic, and that natural aesthetic

R*bx&..< ZX&e,X~V High Places' self-titled debut was recorded by the band's Rob
`_cv& "K9f Barber and Mary Pearson in their apartment in Brooklyn's Fort
WS[Z[O Greene neighborhood. They employed a wide variety of
uEb:uENk'( instruments to make this album, ranging from the more
8gNTW7W/ traditional: 12 string guitar, banjo, shakers and rattles,
wb62($ bass, bells and Kalimba; to the inventive: plastic bags,
!$l<'K$ mixing bowls, wood blocks and other common household objects.
~v(c9I) The album has a contemplative and organic lyrical tone
?rOj?

X[.%[G|oj} is further accented through the recurring mention of trees and
