#)\KV7f! ; time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
`T mIrc to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her
10a=[\ Q first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
c xX her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
F<I -^ BY) taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
&)wQ|{P~k vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
3GaM>w}>W Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
Q .5a"(d@ who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
[@/G?sAQm\ in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a

5F.q first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
k1]?d7g$w drop out of school at the age of eighteen.

257D At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in

%)[ Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
c|I{U[(U talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave

!s= her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
($ae n Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
d/|@"z^? Polydor Records.
[t0gX dU 6 F n 6>n04v Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
k8w8I$QEM her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
S c@g;+#QU Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
; zs4>>^> days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
)82x)c<e organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
Ll&Y_Ry released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
c~p4M64 2007 in the United States and Japan.
[ UQ zCqV m ,Os$>{Ok At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
V5M_ N;h Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
cl^tX% performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
+\Rp N 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
, Lhgv1 and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig

{L Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June

z+DPk[" 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
,sX a{U United States and Canada.

}w q1Ah! 9B On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
Xv6z>z. album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
.-fJ\`^mi Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
)}vQ?n[:' is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
%0. o(U includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
%<:?{<~wH9 (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson

n> zuH e (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
X 1^f0\k Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
