0Z0:,! time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
n) k1 to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

TjQvAkT her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
,WJH}(h"D taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
io#&o;M< vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
Tj HwjRa Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,

E{h}( who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
UW9?p} F in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
3}@_hS"^8 first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
iC W*]U drop out of school at the age of eighteen.

oLwfTy (9 <guv At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
Q$:! [}[( Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
ow0!%|fO talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
rS4@1`/R her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
vG;zJ#c Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
IkrF/$r Polydor Records.
hGbj 0 VQ0fS!5' Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded

4 her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
L0&RvI# Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
u%]shm days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
Y$Q| J4z organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
y`$Q \}fS released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
F BpH21|/y 2007 in the United States and Japan.
l5g$vh\aQ] U5-@2Y cH At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
d'/TdVM Germany and the United States. On her American tour she

6j&- performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
$ &P >r 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
;Ra+=z}> and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
_R.B[\r @ Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
8F:e|\SB# 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
HcedE3Rg United States and Canada.

/[ 6j)HIS On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
jS+AGE?5e album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
s/7 A7![ Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
d3W0-I NL is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
9*E7}b, includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
txcf=)@>V (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
g8w2 Vz2/ (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
?V}j`r8|\4 Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
