W Z ZD time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
G[jCmkK to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

/O ZF 3Pft taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
5(,WN vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
P5Fm<f8\ Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
w>#~_x, ` who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
`X Tu$+ in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
r"xo 9&| first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
Qf"gH <vT drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
4bmpMF- U,/>p=s At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
H>VuUH| Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
M6?* \ 9E talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
)@Ly{cw her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
=3sBWDB[ Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
KyDQ<Dq& Polydor Records.
e1 K,4 Bq }9jy)gF *e Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
'Exj|Y& her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
&c0U\G|j Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
u3Ua>A- days under live conditions, with a group of musicians

C organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
rj<r6 released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
eXUXoK=T 2007 in the United States and Japan.
<Jv %}r \_qiUv Pf\ At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
u-=%gx"Di Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
4l560Fb'U performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
r1]shb%J? 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
\| R P-8 and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
!0{": 4 \ Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
kK>PFk( 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
G BV]7. United States and Canada.

1}_VB)^ :D`ghXj On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second

@ album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
P33x/#VVE Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
m_wBRan is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
E=+v1\t)] includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
Pfj{TT.#L (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
ZnVi.s ~1V (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
n.Iu|,?q Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
|#fqHON composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
l$=Y(Xk will be released at the end of September 2008 by
W7r1!/ccj Universal Music France.
