I"3Qdi yY*OAC At the age of six Ayo. played the violin for a short
v:CYf_ time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
mKZ?H$E%% to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her
O7j$bxk/^ first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
J{$C}8V her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
!.L%kw7z taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
[ 7]p\' j vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
|LKhT4rE Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
}.gD axj who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
;: Hfkyy] in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
{a_= 4a first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
po"M$4`9 drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
>0+m 133lIX+(k At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
5<4njo?k Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
{#q<0l talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
.D^k0V her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
2U>1-p&dn Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
iUA2/ A Polydor Records.
-9-%_ =6 ZcX%:ebKS Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
FH M^x2 her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
$ sEe0 Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
*%ZfE,bu8< days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
Gyy:. ]>& organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
8NeP7.U<w released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
65ijzZL; 2007 in the United States and Japan.
| IH-a" 0"u*K n At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
qChS} Q Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
J~ v<Z/gm performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
]G&?e9OA 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
_@sqCf%| and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
O j MDxG
w Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
7r"!&P* , 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
9|jIrS%/~ United States and Canada.
8c+i+gp! EP I mh On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
t> &$_CSWK album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
ceVej' Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She

is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
O:r<es1 includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
CJjma=XH (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
DXK k1u?Tq (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
3`#sXt9C Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
nU mA composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
ErB6fl will be released at the end of September 2008 by
{>QrI4*A Universal Music France.
