7nHlDPps) time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
8V3SZ17 to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

hQgi--Msw' her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
'?k*wEu taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
@T r8.4 vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny

`Sd< Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,

\fzK who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
.)mw~ 3] in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a

'/Ilz` first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
U:xr[' drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
C=AX{sn o$YL\ <qp At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
O&irgc! Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
?!~CX`eMZ talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
Ut8yA"Y~ her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers

+Ih Gi Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
[:sV;37s Polydor Records.
BfIGw qI"@ PI!s Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
_Y*]'?g` her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
zD-.bHo>. Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
'cT R<LVo days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
]7-*1kL8=~ organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
~k4S~!(U0 released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
/e6 \F7 2007 in the United States and Japan.
Edc< 8- <MI>>$seiJ At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
;zI Ah[z Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
_JiB=<Fkr performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
} O8|_d 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
2}[)y\`t3 and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
,n }X, #] Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
Mk7,:S 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
WrQ e'ny United States and Canada.
Jw)Uk< \ oOlqlv On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
t AO,s ZW album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
O%L]*vIr Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
"`qmeZ$rg is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
v% 6u
U includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
z{Z4{& M (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
o{7wPwQ;* (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
!_C*2+f Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and

T composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
Z;Q2tT /F will be released at the end of September 2008 by
