At the age of six Ayo. played the violin for a short pnOAs&QAm  
time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself oPM96 (  
to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her o* H<K aX  
first song, which was about her mother, and which helped bd

her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical 7NGxa6wi  
taste was influenced by her father's large selection of `;C  V=,M  
vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny 5;EvNu  
Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father, ,O(hMI85]  
who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering =,M5KDk`  
in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a *]X'( /b_  
first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to lo+A%\1  
drop out of school at the age of eighteen. :F?C)

At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in tD)J*]G  
Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical ga+dt  
talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave ux4POO3C|  
her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers a~w$#fo"`f  
Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with L8B!u9%

Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded Gc|idjW4  
her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York K"MX!  
Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five y6a3tG  
days under live conditions, with a group of musicians 0H:X3y+  
organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was (9a^$C

released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November 4Nsp<Kn>  
2007 in the United States and Japan. *EH~_F

At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through M= (u]%\  
Germany and the United States. On her American tour she ]/v[8dS(l  
performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January "y}5;9#,  
2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, upmx $H>  
and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig y9ZvV0
 
Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June TLH1>pY&  
2008 the singer started her second tour through the ?J0y|

On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second i ct])  
album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in H5|;{q:j  
Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She Pm7}"D'/  
is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band tw@X> G1 z  
includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell @0''k  
(guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson ~n_HP_Kf?  
(keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine {JLtE{  
Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and ^\m![T\bX  
composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and TWTb?HP  
will be released at the end of September 2008 by f o3}W^0
