time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself J89Dull  
to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her 9][(Iu]h7

her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical ^_5L"F]sP  
taste was influenced by her father's large selection of #po5_dE\*  
vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny e__@GBG  
Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father, < v]3g  
who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering J$4wL F3  
in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a >@WX>0`ht  
first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to p~

At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in VIP7OHJh  
Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical nd;fy$<J\  
talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave Xi?b]Z  
her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers bifS 2>c  
Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with wU#F_De)R:

Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded UgWs{y2SE.  
her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York kc/{[ME  
Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five 0y<wvLv2C  
days under live conditions, with a group of musicians Q]rD}Ckv-  
organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was [^8n0{JiN  
released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November tO_H!kP  
2007 in the United States and Japan. !*2%"H*

At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through Z):n c% S  
Germany and the United States. On her American tour she x8

includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell `:'w@(q  
(guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson >zkRcm  
(keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine E&Qi@Ty
