At the age of six Ayo. played the violin for a short ~DO4,  
time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself 5tJ,7

to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her @3fn)YQ'  
first song, which was about her mother, and which helped _AV1WS;^^8  
her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical %6Q4yk  
taste was influenced by her father's large selection of pZ`|iLNl-  
vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny ob+euCuJ  
Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father, gOgps:

At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in 1[_mEtM:]B  
Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical IwGqf.!.>  
talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave l & D

Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with ETs>`#`6o

Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded .F+@B\A<  
her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York LdJYE;k Ju  
Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five v+99 -.  
days under live conditions, with a group of musicians rj!0GI  
organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was l&?ii68/  
released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November X1~1&:V,<  
2007 in the United States and Japan. !>:?rSg*

At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through @V!r"Bkg.  
Germany and the United States. On her American tour she X]y)qV)a[c  
performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January =JmT:enV  
2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, t%8d-+$  
and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig G+F:

album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in y TDNNK  
Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She {+@bZ}57

includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell d0,s" K7@  
(guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson 7!N2-6GV  
(keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine 9U%N@Dq`Z  
Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and s4uhsJL V$
