f5/ s+H! time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
q*cEosi'F? to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her
b|\dHi2F T first song, which was about her mother, and which helped

'c 3'eJ0 taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
> iYdr/^a vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
)RQ QhB Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
F 6C7k9 who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
n+nZ;GJ5d in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
v 7%}ey[ first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
z" ;(0% drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
s d = bw +[4y)y` At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
|I{3~+E h Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
D|^N9lDaQ talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
RL fQT_V her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
=YD<q:n4 Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with

)<qL8#["U O,S>6o)? Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
+wQ}ZP& her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
-= izu]Fb, Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
Kf_xKW )^ days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
16 \)C/* organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
M U\Pggs released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
)d2:r 07a 2007 in the United States and Japan.
Wh~,?}laj ]'w5s dP At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
B<n[yiJ} Germany and the United States. On her American tour she

4Z+8* performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
=6'bGC%c 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
UBk:B and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
xq=!1> Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
k GYsjhL\d 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
=1'WZp}D5 United States and Canada.

YMU""/( On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
^:}C,lIrG album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
/e*fsQ>M: Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
B& R?{y* is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
>]C/ Q6 includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
I,HtW ), (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
1~3dX[& (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine

|^> Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
