* time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
Yn} _"FO' to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

K/u`W z ~A her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
SS;QPWRZ taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
F BcF vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
yX (6C]D Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
n]@+<TA<uA who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
$0Y&r]' in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
0PnW|N0 first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
~R cd drop out of school at the age of eighteen.

At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
05MtQB Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
V|.aud=7z talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
E `)p,{T her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
]Nvtiw 6 Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
AAdRuO{l1 Polydor Records.
^ >ca*g v}]x> f Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
oA~m*| her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
&hba{!`y Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
iEki<e/ days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
GD'C^\E aZ organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
9kP!O_ released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
UUY-E
C 7X 2007 in the United States and Japan.
bYdC.AE 4T9hT~cT7 At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through

; Germany and the United States. On her American tour she

D performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
x[}e1sXXs 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
C)z[Blt and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
&u"*vG (U[ Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
vO{ijHKE 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
?/)5U}*M0T United States and Canada.
=O)JPo&iwY ok\+$+ $ju On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
GKY:"q&h album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
nHKEtKDd Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
0m`7|80#P is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
7"xd'\c@ includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
_ |TE )h (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
n/?5[O-D] (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
=b% J@}m`& Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
y=vH8D]%X composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
e^Xij Id. will be released at the end of September 2008 by
Ti3BlWQH Universal Music France.
