2 At the age of six Ayo. played the violin for a short
ar9]"s+' time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
.Z:zZ_Ev to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her
mpP dG first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
Ms~{9? her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical

k.`h vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
S4=~`$eP Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,

gyj}5 who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
91 =OF*w in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
t2,A@2DU 2 first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to

&?mD$Eo r E}%KsZ At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
u%w`:v7Yo( Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
!O `(JSoG talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave

xlhG,bb7 .zi_[ Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
W[Ls|<Q her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York

3 A Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five

| days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
xai*CY@cQ organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
Vh_P/C+ released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
r"P|dlV- 2007 in the United States and Japan.
u 6AA 4( '.:z&gSqx0 At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
59h)-^! Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
j0oR ) du performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January

AD^^l# 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
6 (]Dh;gC and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
`sn^ysp Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
;r<^a6B 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
nT7%j{e=L United States and Canada.
,o86}6Ag GS$ifv On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
8\+uec]k album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
'jWr<]3 Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
ua3~iQj- is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
Fs9!S a7v includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
"@V Y (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
'DP1,7 (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
wr$("A( Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
