,j;m!V time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
;7]u!Q to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

'Fco first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
00I}o%akO her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
s4Sd>D 7 taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
oVA?J%EK vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
Ds #/ Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
~CB [9D= who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
0N[&3Ee8 in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
t"hYcnC first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
H1<>NWm!v7 drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
h~&g Iub q{s(.Uq$& At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
D']ZlB 'K Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
yKYUsp talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave

f her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
2LrJ>Mi Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
Fc~'TBf,,` Polydor Records.
[A}rbD K 4h5g'!9-g Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
{o5V7*P;_ her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
.s#;s'>g Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five

days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
2* (Z==XC7 organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
W_m"ySQs released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
x~.:64 2007 in the United States and Japan.

yrEO At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
8G5Da|\ Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
gp$ Ucfu' performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
83;NIE; 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
WL` 9~S and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
}g$ (+1g Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
gM [w1^lj 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
?"z]A7 <Hj United States and Canada.

\L On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
5 ,)Q w album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
(`? y2n)~W Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
qc#) ! is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
6a;v&5 includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
$9S(_xdI& (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
Cg z D $`~ (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
:VF<9@ t Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
