Y| X!da/ time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
>;s!X(6 b to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

~rfUqM]I her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
r]3v.GZy taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
Tebu?bj vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
2Q;g |*] Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,

7X{@$>+S in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
-IE=?23Do? first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
w678 drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
b O9PpOk+z pY$DOr- r` At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
H tx)MEZ Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
M < K}H8? talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
(nnIRN<}$ her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers

~s$ < Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
Uqd2{fji=# Polydor Records.
K<vb4!9Z9 V8947h|& Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
7<zI'^l her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
2>F `H7W Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
./_4D} days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
f^[u70c82 organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
4 <A+Tf released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
g E $@:j 2007 in the United States and Japan.
=SK{|fBB :^ J '_ At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
Lw<%?F ( Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
E>&oe&`o' performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January

2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
a+e8<fM yT and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
%R-KkK<S Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
&-(p~[| 2008 the singer started her second tour through the

ZY{zFg9 d ~3G EK On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
}q<% ![% album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in

Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
)ku w&SH, is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
BuIly&qbm< includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
;,Q6AS! (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
fY{&W@#g (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
0Rze9od]$ Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
