kKv{ At the age of six Ayo. played the violin for a short
3z,v#2 time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself

F_]6 to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her
G&x'=dJ first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
p-5P as her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
9W1;Kb|Z< taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
G;(onJz vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
y$IaXr5L Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
(O8,zqP9l who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
L!;^ #g in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
6P;o 6s first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
45x,|h[F{5 drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
SkiJ pMN 7fTx Gm At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in

1P Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
-|m$YrzG talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
#_.g2 Y her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
koOy Z> Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
jrm0@K+<IA Polydor Records.
H<`^w)? 2X|CuL{] Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
m_M wg her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
5ZnSA9? Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
Y 3o^Euou days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
+w "XNl organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
=m`l%V[ released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
JAc@S20v\ 2007 in the United States and Japan.
.Qd}.E G 1^aykrnQ> At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
;"1/#CY773 Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
&&X$d!V performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
bt;lq!g 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
fd4;mc1T and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
@&?a]
>L Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
W|;nJs:e 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
C@%iQ ]= United States and Canada.

q%BH Ns'FH(: On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
l <:`~\ # album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
"E.\6 s C Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
xM&EL>m>L is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
1'Nh jL includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
~6p5H}'H1 (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
6 |QTS|! (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
F(deu^s%{ Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
r+o_t2_b* composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
4Mk8Cpz will be released at the end of September 2008 by
MzcB3pi Universal Music France.
