At the age of six Ayo. played the violin for a short "% YVAaN  
time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself p}Um+I=1  
to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her i#aKW'  
first song, which was about her mother, and which helped "A*;V  
her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical <TTBIXV  
taste was influenced by her father's large selection of Ng2Z7k  
vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny CTe!jMZ=  
Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father, 5IA

who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering (-],VB (+  
in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a dO

first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to [&

drop out of school at the age of eighteen. ?,]eN&`

At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in @r^

Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical |N}*  
talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave zf]e"e  
her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers upaQoX/C  
Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with #|3,DZ|)F

Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded L0I|V[  
her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York >6 [d&SM6  
Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five GY %$7
  
days under live conditions, with a group of musicians #z70:-`.[M  
organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was WMW=RgiW\  
released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November uix/O*^  
2007 in the United States and Japan. m >F:dI

At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through R/Z7}QW  
Germany and the United States. On her American tour she 4*9t:D|}  
performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January ASrRMH[  
2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, ~R~.D  
and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig *9w-eK1{  
Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June $cc]Av4c2  
2008 the singer started her second tour through the g oyQ',+  
United States and Canada. B"\9slX

On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second #$W0%7  
album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in 2/tx5Nc  
Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She O^ui+44wp  
is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band nf<I  
includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell W[qy4\.B  
(guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson ~k?wnw
 
(keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine u0,QsD)_X0  
Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and j (Q#NFT7  
composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and kaiK1/W0;  
will be released at the end of September 2008 by x{zZ%_F  
Universal Music France.
