.I EHjy\+ time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
ji>LBbnHdE to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

{chZ&8)f her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
d>mT+{3 taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
>Ut: -}CS vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
SO X7 Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
g \q4- who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
qBcbMa9m in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
oemN$g &7 first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
SUIJ{!F/ drop out of school at the age of eighteen.

M<h At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
? % 8%1d Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
\.oJ/++ talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
5M~+F"Hl her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
,?Ie!r$6 Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
l5=ih9u Polydor Records.
wkPj MmW+! CbW[_\ Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded

<Nl' her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York

FWDZ Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
lyFlJm i,r days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
KQb&7k . organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
V_ , `?>O released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
iPV-w_HQ 2007 in the United States and Japan.
&]LpG l H c@_@G At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through

AgD Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
k!z<=WA performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
]Jm\k'u[ 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
u=qaz7E and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
U?Dr0w D;[ Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
/*>}y$ 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
9xj }<WM United States and Canada.
rv(N0p/ 0HU0p!yt& On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
Z3YKG{g album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
kaQ NcMcq Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
uF|_6~ g is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band

ee_ includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
DBsoa0w (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
ZO/Jf Jn~ (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
_ q1\8y Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
"adic?5 composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
/YUW)?o!^N will be released at the end of September 2008 by
kppi>!6 Universal Music France.
