1% s{v!jZ At the age of six Ayo. played the violin for a short
p|Po##E}g^ time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
=5bef8 O to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her
? 3ldHWa first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
Z1j3 F her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
BLzl XhHn taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
Bob K>db vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
U8_<?Hd Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,

YAUU in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
>3R)&N first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
2y6 e]D drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
octBt`\Of Ba$&4?8 At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
HIUB: Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
4(5NHsvp talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
W0GDn her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
z:B4 Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
if6/ +7 Polydor Records.
[R$iX G } B)bM2 Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded

z(W > her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
s!* m^zx Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
|l)z^V! days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
o+e:H jZZ organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
};5d>#NK,Y released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
?kfLOJQ:I 2007 in the United States and Japan.
QXTl'.SfF 8]U;2H/z At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
GAK!qLy 9 Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
nM*-Dy3ou performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
/ ="~Jo 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
%3B0s?,I and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
#l kv&.)x Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
IbFS8 *a\ 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
J QCQpn/ United States and Canada.
H+ UA CAX) AN On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
6CoDn(+z album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
_]~`t+W'DJ Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
>OP[ qj is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
0[(TrIpXl includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
N#(p_7M (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
?7 Kl)p3 (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
I" TFj$Pg Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
