f<fXsSv( underlying country flavour to it. Whilst once again presented
?GoR^p #p as a happy little song, there is more than a touch of
'EEJU/"u bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The

Z& Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
? Wr+Q its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
zl>nSndRE accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
\Xt7`I< mineral water.
LEbB( x;@ d6?j`~[7#- The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
0U(@ = 7V truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
1y4|{ 7bb laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
XO>KZV7) and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
^H p; .f. younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
xeg/ A}yE and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
J@/kIrx Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.

If Bluesbunny closes his eyes, on "Mystery Star" Ally Kerr

(xycJ` N be "Amorino" evoking, as it does, the melancholic pleasures of

}ZYd4h|g\z L]7= ?vN=8 The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
zE* li`@ themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
C-xr" ]#] lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier

O8{k than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
t}_r]E,{u but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
TT%M' 5& kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
SZ7:u895E his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
4X/-4' doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
h#I>M`| icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything
1}+3dB_s in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.

Q>qUk@ Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too

BV his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
OF>mF ~ of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
g'f@H-KCD welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
