At the age of six Ayo. played the violin for a short lD _  u  
time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself #$e ~o}(r  
to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her "u3  
first song, which was about her mother, and which helped 8pg?g'A~}  
her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical e}-uU7O  
taste was influenced by her father's large selection of p$0;~1vH  
vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny gjk=`lU  
Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father, j+88J  
who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering dPPe_% Ilr  
in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a XK{`x<  
first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to sbQmPV  
drop out of school at the age of eighteen. hm&{l|u{RU

At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in )U`H7\*)  
Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical fI t:eKHr  
talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave {uDL"~^\  
her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers gPd:>$  
Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with u%JM0180

Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded bv)E>%Yy  
her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York 4;7<)&#h  
Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five /1gKc}rB2  
days under live conditions, with a group of musicians pIqPIuy  
organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was 8L|rj4z<#  
released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November xEOR\(Z^  
2007 in the United States and Japan. A!ba _14

At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through _C)u#]t  
Germany and the United States. On her American tour she iePpJ>(  
performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January +[zrU`!@  
2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,  / e!/  
and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig ;#G>qo  
Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June C;OU2,c,T  
2008 the singer started her second tour through the BT2[@qH|qF

On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second .[+8D

album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in OV;Ho  
Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She {t;Q#Ou.  
is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band 6T;C +

includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell Ad+-/hxc
 
(guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson C' o4Su#  
(keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine *J 7>6N:-  
Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and SrN0f0  
composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and [t: =%&B
