9;L5# /E bitterness in his words. Funnily enough, the rather twee "The

gwCc Toothbrush Song" would also make a quality country song due to
A$H;2T5N its dry lyrics even if a cowboy would feel the need to
+kMVl_` V accompany such emotions with bourbon rather than sparkling
2!7)7wlj0 mineral water.

d"> The pace picks up with the title track "Off the Radar" that
KliMw*5( truly highlights Mr Kerr's pop sensibilities and offsets his
eL vbPE_ laidback vocal delivery with some spirited guitar. Loves lost
wh A and won (mostly lost though? and a sense of reflection on his
r&MHww1i younger years seem a common theme to the songs in this album
kzK4i!} and, indeed, regret is once more evident in "Is It Too Late to
;?*`WB Work for NASA" even if it is disguised here with wry humour.

(O v{gj^ ~)Z MGx The thing that impresses most about this album is the songs
,vxxp]#5 themselves. Well crafted and melodic with sharp and observant
6 a E:v R2 lyrics, they are however presented as a whole lot fluffier
FuWMVT`Y than they actually are. It must be Ally Kerr's choice to do so
!zu YO3: but it does seem that he is deliberately avoiding giving any
& gDw sW kind of offense. Maybe he never gets angry himself - although
]\ qbe
his words suggest otherwise -but Bluesbunny feels that he is
-w[j`}([P9 doing his own songs a disservice here by sprinkling an inch of
{.D^2mj | icing sugar on everything. It is not necessary for everything

in life to have a cherry on top for it to be appetising.

~ x!"( Overall, this is a happy, upbeat album that is just a bit too
]uik E2nn polite and well mannered to try and force itself upon your
/M0A9Z T[ affections. The production and arrangements are smoother than
n^a&@?( + your average Starbuck's decaf latte but it is perhaps fair
dGN g[ comment to say that the omnipresent sugar coating will suit
,y>%m;jL his fans. However, and maybe this is a reviewer thing, a bit
2j*+^ &M/ of fire and even some unpredictability would have been
oy;g;dtq welcome. Then again, the Bluesbunny was always a quadruple
