Since their inception, High Places have created a signature
:aK?Dt Z sound out of using bass-heavy yet crisp beats, lilting vocal
Z &Ciy n melodies and syncopated rhythmic lines performed on folk
-(t7
>s percussion instruments, guitar duets turned into treated
h%krA<G9 samples, and percussive lines created from the manipulation of
LP=j/qf| household objects. The songwriting is expansive and fluid, all
dH!z<~ the while managing to be concise. High Places gravitate toward
Z*q9vX the organic over the electronic, and that natural aesthetic

?[!t X!p`|i High Places' self-titled debut was recorded by the band's Rob
G$>QH-p Barber and Mary Pearson in their apartment in Brooklyn's Fort
nuXL{tg6 Greene neighborhood. They employed a wide variety of
0]kKF<s instruments to make this album, ranging from the more
D%abBE1 traditional: 12 string guitar, banjo, shakers and rattles,
USEb} M` bass, bells and Kalimba; to the inventive: plastic bags,
j/z=<jA mixing bowls, wood blocks and other common household objects.
?%h$deJ The album has a contemplative and organic lyrical tone
