NiF*h~q }r[BME Since their inception, High Places have created a signature
$$w 1%#F= sound out of using bass-heavy yet crisp beats, lilting vocal
# jyAq$I0 melodies and syncopated rhythmic lines performed on folk
<7+.5iB3 percussion instruments, guitar duets turned into treated

' samples, and percussive lines created from the manipulation of
.FyC4"b=c household objects. The songwriting is expansive and fluid, all
N[%IrN3 the while managing to be concise. High Places gravitate toward
x4(WvQ%O# the organic over the electronic, and that natural aesthetic

}OZfsYPz}T High Places' self-titled debut was recorded by the band's Rob
>2r/d Barber and Mary Pearson in their apartment in Brooklyn's Fort

bk2vce& instruments to make this album, ranging from the more
(plOV) traditional: 12 string guitar, banjo, shakers and rattles,
oz QL2 bass, bells and Kalimba; to the inventive: plastic bags,

mixing bowls, wood blocks and other common household objects.
xK f+.6 wz The album has a contemplative and organic lyrical tone
g~
]FI emphasized by the themes of goodness manifested in nature,
.nnAI@7E hardship and wonder as necessities to human existence and
zc_3\N growth. Additionally, the idea of maturation and development
vU_#(jZ is further accented through the recurring mention of trees and
pq4frq their extending, enveloping braches.
