U2#"p
\h/H#jZJ Since their inception, High Places have created a signature
i#n0U/ sound out of using bass-heavy yet crisp beats, lilting vocal
y@S$^jk. melodies and syncopated rhythmic lines performed on folk
U`(ee*}o percussion instruments, guitar duets turned into treated
-V77C^()8d samples, and percussive lines created from the manipulation of
iy.p n household objects. The songwriting is expansive and fluid, all
BO?%'\ the while managing to be concise. High Places gravitate toward
zZPO&akB" the organic over the electronic, and that natural aesthetic
{H>gtpVy adds warmth and intimacy to the recordings.

M=Z+ Barber and Mary Pearson in their apartment in Brooklyn's Fort

Mq156TL instruments to make this album, ranging from the more
UERLtSQ traditional: 12 string guitar, banjo, shakers and rattles,
JX;<F~{. bass, bells and Kalimba; to the inventive: plastic bags,

Hk3sI-XkA growth. Additionally, the idea of maturation and development
Woym/[i is further accented through the recurring mention of trees and
