;f0+'W to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her
M<g>z6 first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
}MXZ her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
yv4hH4Io taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
" ,`fGu ) vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
y\r8_rBo Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
_YO ` x who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
X#gZgz =' in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
h_x"/z& first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
3vNo D drop out of school at the age of eighteen.

{y'?, IqcPml{\ At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
CKNH/[ ZR, Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
'$ q'Wl) talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
QfT& y & her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
YG"P:d;s Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
KuE
2a,E4 Polydor Records.
}c%QF q.uIZ Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded

T*B W her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
j4+hWalm Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
D| `[ [ days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
lj'c0k8 organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
OHM.xw*?. released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
$*L@ y m 2007 in the United States and Japan.
4N*Fq !k~ l|U=(aA]h At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through

ofg Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
c,X\1yLy performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
]%ikr&78u 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
IW uR=I$t and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
552c4h/T Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
E Jb"/oLla 2008 the singer started her second tour through the

p5= On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
%Hw POEJ album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
> L?/Ph %d Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
UH.M )br is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
c i_XcG includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
(9fq UbG (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
V5qvH"^ (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
&6r".\; ^ Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
n=L;(jp<j composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
?f CLiK will be released at the end of September 2008 by
