wl]~ her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
H/#WpR g taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
o5z&sRZ vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
v<} $d.&* Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
3v~}hV/RUy who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
\Zk<|T61$ in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
G)5Uiu:^X first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
%eu_Pr 6X drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
H~<wAer,Op j~ q m5} At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
G#^6H]`[J: Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
H#`&!p talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
j]9,yi her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
2IDn4<` Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with

Polydor Records.
{2&MyxV 0pe*DbYP5 Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
zy9W{{:P(1 her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
=?B[oq Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
G>^ _&(c@2 days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
1UH_"Q0 3 organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
X`} 4=> released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November

L$ 2007 in the United States and Japan.

<w:{* j62oA$z At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
|SsmVW$B| Germany and the United States. On her American tour she

performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
'^t(=02J 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
@v\jL+B+m and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig

K8o Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June

/% ^^hr #mv~1tL On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
y=WCR*N album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
qB=%8$J Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She

Ec%9Y is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
BG@[m includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
cp 7;~i3 (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
g>Kh? ( (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
CY.i0 Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
